Episode’s Description
“Curious to know how he turned setbacks into stepping stones.”
“Housemanship was a huge eye opener for me.”
“I had to see approximately a hundred and twenty patients per day.”
In this episode of Postcall: Beyond the White Coat, Dr. Selina Chew sits down with Dr. Rubben, a doctor who took an unconventional path after finding that traditional medicine was not meeting the needs of his patients.
Born with the dream of becoming a doctor, Dr. Rubben’s journey began with great aspirations.
However, after serving in both the public and private healthcare sectors, he felt frustrated by the limitations of conventional medicine and realized that merely treating symptoms wasn’t enough.
Determined to make a difference, Dr. Rubben decided to venture into entrepreneurship, founding his own clinic, Klinik Medicka. But the road to success was far from smooth.
Faced with challenges he hadn’t anticipated, he made the bold decision to uproot and move to Sabah in an effort to expand his business.
Unfortunately, this venture ended in failure, leaving him feeling cheated and disheartened. Yet, instead of giving up, Dr. Rubben took these setbacks as lessons, pushing forward to create something bigger and better.
In 2021, he founded the AS Group of Companies, managing multiple clinics and wellness centers.
A year later, he established Cell 101 International, focusing on regenerative medicine and cellular biotechnology—a field he believes holds the key to more personalized and effective patient care.
Throughout the episode, Dr. Rubben shares the highs and lows of his entrepreneurial journey, reflecting on the risks he took and the resilience required to bounce back from failures.
He discusses his vision for the future of medicine and offers valuable advice for doctors who may be feeling disillusioned with traditional clinical practice.
Tune in for an inspiring conversation about turning frustration into innovation and redefining what it means to be a doctor in today’s world.
