“Doctors Only Belong in Hospitals?”
Six years ago, I was in the heart of one of Kuala Lumpur’s busiest hospitals, training in one of the most demanding surgical fields in the country. Long hours, high-stakes decisions, and the constant pressure of saving lives-it was the only reality I had ever known.
But then came the crossroads.

I made the difficult decision to step away from clinical practice, not because I didn’t love medicine, but because I saw another way to make an impact. A way to help not just a handful of patients each day, but thousands-maybe even millions-by addressing the systemic challenges in healthcare.
Yet, there’s a stigma. The moment you step out of the hospital, society starts questioning-“Are you still a doctor?” Many believe that unless you’re in a white coat, holding a scalpel, or prescribing medication, you’re no longer one of them.

But let me ask-does a doctor stop being a doctor just because they choose a different battlefield?
Healthcare is bigger than just hospitals and clinics. It needs innovators, policymakers, educators, and leaders who can transform the system from the ground up. Today, I work towards improving healthcare accessibility, advancing medical technology, and empowering doctors to thrive beyond the four walls of a hospital. I may not be in the operating theatre anymore, but I am still healing-just in a different way.

That’s exactly why we built Disruptive Doctors-a platform dedicated to helping doctors impact healthcare differently. Whether it’s innovating medical technology, shaping healthcare policies, or creating new career pathways, we are proving that doctors can do more than just clinical work. If you’re a doctor looking to redefine your journey in healthcare, join us.
