Kuala Lumpur, 12th August 2024 – Over the weekend of 10 & 11 August 2024, we brought together more than 500 doctors and delegates at the Sime Darby Convention Centre for the Healthcare Revolution Conference. Under the theme “Doctors Impacting Healthcare Differently,” we opened with a launch video setting a bold tone, calling out outdated systems and limited opportunities in healthcare. We’re here to disrupt the stagnancy and drive a movement toward real, impactful change.
Over the next two days, our speakers inspired doctors with stories of career transformations and personal journeys beyond traditional sick care. In her keynote, our Co-founder & CEO, Dr. Selina Chew, shared her own path from anaesthesia to healthcare innovation after a life-altering injury, reminding doctors that this movement isn’t about leaving medicine—it’s about stepping into the untapped potential healthcare offers.

Day one showcased doctors who have transitioned into healthcare management, pharmaceuticals, and clinical research. Their stories, shared with younger doctors, highlighted the possibilities that lie beyond traditional roles.
Day 2: The Future of Healthcare
On the second day, we explored the future, with discussions on AI, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Notable voices, including Dr. Kamal Amzan, CEO of Gleneagles Hospital Johor, and venture capitalists like Bikesh Lakhmichand from 1337 Ventures, brought fresh perspectives on investment in healthcare innovation.
Forums & Keynotes HRev featured a series of insightful forums and keynotes that covered a wide range of topics crucial to modern healthcare:
- From Scrubs to Entrepreneurship Forum: This forum featured authentic sharing from doctors who have transitioned from clinical practice to entrepreneurship, aiming to revolutionize healthcare. Key takeaways included the understanding that entrepreneurship is not for everyone, and the importance of embracing public failure. The forum highlighted the distinction between doctors and entrepreneurs, with the former pitching ideas based on evidence and the latter on dreams for the future. Agility and adaptability were emphasized as crucial traits for successful entrepreneurs.
- Healthcare/Hospital Management Forum: This forum featured insights from doctors leading some of the top hospitals, including KPJ, IHH, Bagan Specialist, and Qualitas. The speakers discussed the pathways and essential skills required for doctors to transition into hospital management roles. They provided valuable advice on how to prepare for these leadership positions, emphasizing the importance of strategic thinking, leadership abilities, and an understanding of healthcare administration.
- Pharma Forum – How Digital and AI are Transforming Mental Health: Azran Osman-Rani delivered a powerful keynote on how entrepreneurship is transforming healthcare. He highlighted Naluri’s innovative use of digital health and AI to address mental wellness, presenting it as a model for how the healthcare industry can leverage technology to improve patient outcomes and enhance overall care
- AI in Medicine Forum: This forum delved into the transformative applications of AI and technology in healthcare, emphasizing why it is crucial for doctors to get involved. The discussion highlighted various AI-driven innovations, from diagnostic tools to treatment planning, and how these technologies can enhance patient care, reduce errors, and streamline clinical workflows.
- Branding Forum: This forum emphasized the importance of personal branding in the healthcare industry, with the key message that being good at what you do is not enough—you need to be known. The speakers discussed why branding is crucial for doctors, providing practical advice on how to get started, including the need to post daily to build and maintain visibility.
- Career in Aesthetic Medicine – Prof. Morthy: Prof. Dr. Morthy provided valuable insights into the growing field of aesthetic medicine in Malaysia, and how aspiring doctors can break into the industry.
- Angel Investing: Kevin Brockland from Indelible Ventures shared valuable insights on how doctors can become angel investors in early-stage healthcare startups. He discussed the unique opportunities and challenges in the healthcare investment landscape, providing guidance on how doctors can leverage their medical expertise to identify promising startups and make informed investment decisions. The session highlighted the potential for doctors to not only contribute financially but also to drive innovation in healthcare through strategic investments.

Additionally, our partner recruiter from Singapore was on-site to assist doctors interested in exploring career opportunities abroad.
Spotlight: H-Innovators Challenge Showdown
The H-Innovators Challenge brought innovation to life. Doctors and medical students pitched transformative solutions in healthcare, making this incubator’s grand finale one of the conference highlights.
The event was done in collaboration with 1337 Ventures and the prize money was sponsored by Serious Games Asia from Singapore
The winners were TECH2TOOLS and MEDTECH ACCENTURE.
